Worcester Racecourse new Weighing Room successfully withstands flood

With flooding peaking in Worcester, it’s clear to see that collaborative design and forward planning has future-proofed the new purpose-built jockey’s weighing room at Worcester Racecourse.
Designed by ONE on behalf of Arena Racing, we have worked with the client, flood engineers and the planning authority to ensure that the new facility built within Flood Zone 3 withstands the local flooding conditions, with the water level below the new raised floor levels.
The new state-of the art facility in Worcester is part of a national initiative to modernise facilities across all British racecourses and will help promote equality and diversity with modern and improved jockeys’ changing areas and their supporting facilities. The scheme will also incorporate a green roof to tie into the natural landscape and provide biodiversity, Photo Voltaic panels (PV) and sustainable building services systems.
