Our Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) engineers were delighted to attend the official opening of Theobalds Enterprise Centre in Broxbourne.
Our engineers were commissioned by Borough of Broxbourne Council for this new £10m innovation hub for tech firms and SME’s. The space will now provide 3,209sqm of flexible space comprising a mix of offices, conference rooms and workshop facilities.
ONE’s clients benefit from a full inhouse engineering team working side-by-side to design innovative, sustainable and cost-effective compliant solutions. With a sustainable approach being key to this project, the design objectives were to achieve BREEAM Very Good and to obtain an EPC A rating, which were accomplished by a range of measures including: covering the entire roof with Photovoltaic (PV) panels as well as numerous electric vehicle charging stations, E bike chargers and LED lighting with intelligent lighting controls.
The M&E solution also supported the client in their application for a platinum rated Wired Score, which indicates an exceptional standard of wired infrastructure and wireless network to boost connectivity for tenants.
Our Civil and Structural (C&S) team supported the successful planning application with a landscape led approach to solving the numerous land constraints. The structural design fully promoted the use of low carbon materials while the civil engineering solution included sustainable drainage strategy (SuDS) in the external works and infrastructure. The team sat client side for the detailed design and construction phases, to ensure delivery of quality.
It was a fantastic day and great for the team to see first-hand the completed high-tech centre which will benefit the future businesses using the facilities.
