Progress for ONE’s Carbon Reduction Journey

ONE’s vision is “Creating a better world through design, sustainability and innovation” and the company is committed in their journey to Net Zero.

Working with Positive Planet, ONE measures their emissions annually, with the latest figures showing that between 2022-2023 ONE has achieved:

• An 8% reduction in carbon emissions
• A reduction of carbon per employee from 5.3 tCO2e to 4.4 tCO2e.

An overall reduction in carbon emissions was seen between 2022-2023, despite the company’s workforce growing by around a third. Significant energy efficient improvement works also took place at ONE’s HQ in the latter part 2023 – the impact of which will only be seen in subsequent years. This included additional EV chargers enabling staff to make sustainable travel choices.

ONE has a long-standing commitment to sustainability and trying to make an impact with climate action. ONE is carbon neutral, is committed to working towards new standards and is signed up to the industry’s Climate and Biodiversity Emergency declarations.

Reaching Net Zero is a challenge and journey for any business and is not something that will happen overnight. We have set a target to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2035 with a full Carbon Reduction Plan in place and a range of strategies, including working with suppliers.

ONE is also committed to helping clients achieve their sustainability goals embracing innovative sustainable design principles and integrating them into projects with inhouse Passive House Designers and Low Carbon Consultants. We help clients understand the most appropriate sustainable design options and practices for their project, highlighting environmental and social benefits as well as payback periods, where appropriate. We were proud to receive Highly Commended in the 2024 Net Zero awards and will continue to work with all our clients to achieve their Net Zero goals.
