ONE supports Global Recycling Day
Posted: 18 March 2022
ONE Creative environments (ONE), a multi-disciplinary design company with a Worcester HQ and offices in London and Birmingham, is showing support for Global Recycling Day (18/3/2022) with a host of activities.
ONE is fully committed to achieving Net Zero Carbon as well as supporting clients to achieve their sustainability goals which has been widely recognised in industry awards.
ONE is in their second year of being Planet Mark certified, having exceeded their target with an 8% reduction in carbon per employee, due to a thorough review of Head Office activities from replacing single use plastics e.g., milk containers through to travel policies and everything in between.
In line with Global Recycling Day, additional recycling measures are being introduced within the office such as the collection of kitchen compost waste and soft plastics, with many other practical interventions led by their carbon reduction team.
Following a review by ONE’s in-house multi-disciplinary team using an innovative Digital Estates approach, the Directors have also committed to investing in a series of carbon reduction improvement works to their HQ. This approach combines BIM (Building Information Modelling) and IOT (Internet of Things) smart sensor data, to create a digital twin that uses live data collected from the smart sensors. This data, combined with intervention from their professional building services team, allows ONE to make informed decisions by understanding the building’s operational energy consumption.
By installing sensor networks, creating bespoke algorithms (which convert the raw energy data into consumption, financial and carbon emissions information) and combining this with occupancy, temperature, humidity, and CO2 real-time data, it shows how employees utilise and interact with spaces and allows the team to continually optimise systems and operations, whilst providing a healthy environment for employees.
Improvements identified include a range of measures to significantly optimise energy usage such as: LED lighting with intelligent controls, installation of a highly efficient Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) in place of the AC system and replacement of the ventilation systems incorporating heat recovery and air monitor sensors, with works taking place over the Summer months. ONE now offers digital twin services for clients, to help them understand and manage carbon, energy, risk and comfort.
Matt Tebbatt, Managing Director of ONE, said: “We pride ourselves on great design, innovation and sustainability which I am proud to say has been recognised in numerous industry awards.”
“We are committed to achieving Net Zero Carbon in 2026, if not before, and always support staff to make further changes to be more sustainable.”
“I am delighted to be able to announce that we are investing in our Head Office with significant measures being taken. It is fantastic to be able to utilise our skilled inhouse teams to design the most appropriate sustainable solution for our HQ, as we do for clients, as well as implement our new innovative Digital Estates service.”
