Becki wins Inspiring Women in Property award
Posted: 17 October 2023
We are delighted that Becki Smith, Senior Associate – Architect, won Mentor of the Year at the 2023 Inspiring Women in Property awards.
Becki, who had been shortlisted in two categories, is a fantastic mentor and we are thrilled that this has been recognised with this prestigious award.
The award recognises that mentorship is often cited as an essential part of supporting the equity, diversity and inclusion agenda and that Becki continues to give her time generously to inspire the next generation of architects.
Throughout her career, Becki has driven a series of projects designed to get young people excited about design, raising awareness of different career paths and has engaged with children and young people extensively within schools and colleges. Becki has led several projects including working with children on the large-scale installations showcased as part of the Coventry City of Culture Show Windows project.
The write up in Property Week says: “Smith promotes an ethos that people in senior positions can learn from the younger generation, and she dedicates herself to raising awareness of the many possible career paths in the construction industry. This includes offering mentoring from primary school age upwards, showing young people that property is open to women from all backgrounds. According to the judges, Smith’s work proves the importance of reaching out to schools if the sector is serious about encouraging greater diversity.”
Well done Becki!
