Head Shave for Charity During COVID-19

Posted: 31 March 2020

James Lawrence, a Director at ONE, has promised to shave his head in a bid to raise much needed funds for the Intensive Care Society during the battle against Coronavirus.

ONE’s multidisciplinary design team is well acquainted with hair-related charity events which has brought a lot of fun while also raising money and awareness for very worthy causes. The team supports Movember annually (which has led to some interesting shaped moustaches) as well as their Managing Director, Matt Tebbatt, taking part in Decembeard where each day his beard took on a new colour or decoration.

Now James is aiming to raise at least £1,000 for the charity, which is the only multi-professional Critical Care charity in the U.K., and is well placed to address the needs of those delivering vital front-line services during this emergency. It is business as usual for ONE while the team works remotely and so those on video conference in the following weeks with James will be able to see the result first-hand.

In James’ words: “As we all sit here and try to figure out quite how the world has gotten into this unbelievable situation, I’ve been trying to figure out what I can do from home (I have already volunteered to be an NHS helper), to help raise money for the incredible people working in the NHS.

“I won’t be venturing out any time soon to my usual barbers (although I will of course support them when this is all over) and so rather than allow my lovely wife near my hair with scissors, I have decided that if I can raise a minimum of £1000 by the end of April for this amazing charity, I’ll take the whole lot off with my clippers – £2000 and I’ll stream the event live.

“So please, donate whatever you can for this incredible charity, and if you can’t afford to donate right now (and I know a lot of people are really struggling at the moment), please give this post a share in the hope it reaches someone who can donate. Thank you for your support and thank you to our amazing NHS. Best wishes, take care and stay safe.”

All donations will be gratefully received and can be made here.
