A great BIM Show Live 2018 for One
Posted: 5 March 2018
One Creative Environments Ltd. (One) is celebrating their director being a finalist in a leading industry award for Building Information Modelling (BIM).
One’s Jason Whittall was one of the runners up in the prestigious OpenBIM award, which recognises an individual’s contribution to the sector, at BIM Show Live 2018 last week (28 February-1 March 2018) in Newcastle.
The event, which is one of the largest of its kind in the UK, brought digital construction to life and showcased emerging technologies and new ideas as well as providing an excellent networking opportunity.
Jason, who is Chair of the West Midlands BIM Region and was one of the first in the UK to achieve the RICS BIM Manager certification, has led the One’s BIM offering from strength to strength over many years. Most recently this has included One achieving certification under the BRE BIM Level 2 Business Systems Certification.
One sponsored the event and having presented at numerous BIM related events previously, Jason spoke as part of the main programme. He shared his experience about how BIM technology can provide better reuse of information for facilities management so that intelligent decisions can be made to achieve the best value when scheduling resources and maintenance works.
BIM has been hailed as the future of intelligent design and provides a means of creating and managing virtually every aspect of a building’s design and engineering in a three-dimensional model with attributed data which can be shared by multiple authorised users. It brings a huge number of benefits to all stages of projects, for example: it allows the client/user team to become more involved in the building project and make better informed decisions earlier in the process, it allows more accurate data capture during the critical construction stages where data is traditionally lost, it allows any potential construction issues to be identified and addressed before any work on site and has significant benefits for facilities management.
One is an integrated building design business with a dynamic multi-disciplinary team comprising masterplanning, architecture, landscape architecture, civil and structural engineering and building services all working together at the forefront of Building Information Modelling (BIM).
Jason Whittall, Director of One Creative Environments Ltd., said: “I am delighted to be recognised in these prestigious awards – it was fantastic event and it was a pleasure to speak as part of the main event programme.
“One is an integrated building design company and an early adopter of technology. It is great to receive such recognition for our work with BIM and I am also pleased to say that we have recently received BIM Level 2 Certification. Our clients can, therefore, be confident that all of our disciplines are certified for their ability to deliver projects to BIM Level 2 maturity, including all centrally funded Government projects.”
