February Project Overview

As we celebrate our 50th year in business, we’re reflecting on 50 of our most memorable projects. We have been featuring them over on our social media channels.

In February we looked back at the following four projects…

St Georges Catholic Church: The new multi-purpose hall and memorial garden is set on a prominent triangular site in central Worcester. ONE was involved in the masterplanning, concept design and delivery through to completion via a traditional contract. The design was inspired by the solid geometric forms of traditional church annexes, along with the creation of a public plaza. The intricacy of the design can be seen in the beautifully faceted timber cladding to the internal walls, which also underlines the ceiling and converges at the apex of the roof. The project won critical acclaim with a RICS, Civil Design and a timber trade award.

Skylon Park: In 2016, ONE was commissioned to submit a full application for Skylon Tower, a striking landmark inspired by the original 1951 structure. The original Skylon, a 90m-high sculptural feat of engineering, was manufactured in Hereford by Painter Brothers and installed by the River Thames to celebrate the Festival of Britain.

Barton Firtop: ONE collaborated with Barton Firtop Engineering to design a 4,370sqm headquarters, warehousing and manufacturing facility in Kidderminster, re-locating and combining their three existing facilities. Phase 2 was completed in 2024 to link the two buildings. 

St Catherine’s: St Catherine’s Health Centre was envisioned as an exciting, ground-breaking, and sustainable development that would transform and regenerate the area. Affectionately known as “The Smile”, the design features an 11,100sqm, four-storey health centre commissioned by NHS Wirral. Located within the eight-acre grounds of St Catherine’s Hospital, the centre was officially opened by the Earl of Wessex, Prince Edward, and was designed to sustainably meet the health and social care needs of the local community.
