The amalgamation of three offices into two required a global pharmaceutical organisation to enlist the skills of an agency who could design and manage a significant internal refurbishment. The project involved making significant alterations to the Head Office space to improve the layout and make better use of the area available. Implemented under a tight timeframe and to a fixed budget, regular update meetings were also stipulated in the brief to ensure the project was on schedule.

Having an established working relationship with the client, ONE Creative environments (ONE) was commissioned to consolidate the Head Office accommodation and design and deliver the refurbishment and alterations.
With a very tight timescale and fixed budget, the scheme was conceived, designed, developed and tendered within eight weeks. This allowed a prompt start on site to ensure the client could move staff over a bank holiday weekend.
A key driver was to improve space, visually enhance the working environment and motivate employees about the office change. Areas were reconfigured to increase and improve working office space, communal break out areas, WC/shower facilities and IT room. The creation of seating/reception areas provided much needed meeting space in a less formal but private environment, whilst maintaining the flexibility of being useable for staff to use recreationally. New shower facilities were also key to the design in order to accommodate the clients’ desire to improve health and wellbeing plus promote ‘green travel’ and lunchtime leisure activities.
The phased refurbishment allowed the office to remain operational throughout the duration of the works. ONE’s careful project management ensured minimal disruption was caused. Frequent update meetings with the overseas Head Office was crucial to effective management and instil client confidence throughout the scheme.
ONE prides itself on its professionalism and dedication and retains many of its clients, this being no exception. Having a ten-year working relationship, ONE already had a good understanding of the client’s requirements and expectations which illustrates the trust gained.
Due to ONE’s in-house capability and efficiencies, the tight timescale of this project was met through a phased strategy enabling staff to move in a timely fashion without major disruption over a planned period.
Through careful design and understanding of the client needs, the new layout created much better use of space and allowed areas to be fully utilised giving an overall improved and pleasant working environment.
