One is Supporting Hand in Hand for Oscar
Posted: 30 September 2019
Warriors will stage a charity rugby match on Wednesday October 9th 2019 between West Mercia Police and neighbouring force Warwickshire Police to raise much-needed funds to help send young leukaemia sufferer Oscar Saxelby-Lee to Singapore for specialist treatment.
The five-year-old schoolboy from St John’s has T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukaemia and was briefly cancer-free earlier this year after he received a stem cell transplant. The transplant unfortunately failed, and Oscar now desperately needs CAR-T Cell Therapy which is not currently available on the NHS. The treatment is available in Singapore but will cost around £500,000.
Oscar is from St. Johns in Worcester, likes rugby and wants to be a policeman when he grows up. With these passions in mind, an event to help the fund-raising campaign has been organised by West Mercia Police v Warwickshire Police at the Worcester Warriors ground on the 9 October 2019.
One Creative Environments Ltd. (One) is sponsoring the cup that will be presented at the end of the match to the winning team.
Mark Martin, Director of One, said: “Well done for organising this great initiative. The One team send Oscar and his family our love and best wishes – keep fighting Oscar.”
“Tickets are available before the event or at the gate and so please provide your support if you can.”
Doors open at 5pm with children entertainment and the match starts at 7.30pm. There is a suggested £5 donation at the gate for adult tickets/£1 for children. Staff are giving their time for free and any refreshment sales goes to the cause.
If you would like to make a donation directly, the link is available here and please Gift Aid if you can. You can follow social media via Facebook ‘Hand in Hand for Oscar’ and using #HandinHandforOscar #Osctober #SaveOscar
