Project Overview

Southmead Hospital was built in response to looming winter pressures and ever-increasing strains on hospital capacity across the board. The flexible healthcare spaces not only alleviate stresses on the main A&E department but also have a positive knock-on effect on wider areas of the hospital.

Sustainability and low energy design are core design principles and are fully integrated by ONE’s M&E team. Features include LED Lighting, heat recovery, intelligent lighting control and comprehensive BMS systems. The drive for the project was to tackle capacity to reflect covid recovery plans and support the modular theatre which is also on site.

This project utilised Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) to ensure a rapid design and deployment of the modular ward. The project was complete in May 2024.
